I have been working on processing images from my travels this fall. There are plenty to go through, but thought I would share one that I have done.
One of the most popular locations in Colorado for fall color is outside of Crested Butte in the center of the state. Travelling west along County Road 12 takes you over Kebler Pass and into one of the largest aspen groves in the United States. The road winds its way through the middle of towering aspen trees for over seven miles. It is a photographer’s dream come true if you are there at peak color!
I was actually heading down the road to the west side to get ready for more sunset shoot, when this grove popped out and caught my attention. The late afternoon sunlight was streaming in from the back side and illuminated the gold, green, and orange leaves. Clouds would come and go, adding contrasting shadows and vary which trees were lit up. I spent quite a bit of time shooting from various distances and vantage points. This is probably my favorite image with the isolated aspens in the foreground highlighted by the surrounding shadows.
