The steady rain continued as we reached our next trailhead which made for a sloppy hike to Saint Mary Falls. It didn’t help matters any when my good friend Luke Tingley and I took a wrong turn (I am sure it was my fault!) not too far down the trail adding an extra mile to the trek. Being on the trail early in the morning and the rather bleak weather conditions, made sure that upon reaching the falls we had the area to ourselves. That was great considering there wasn’t a whole lot of room to move around. The only downside to the situation was that the rain made the rocks close to the river very slick. The power of the rain swollen river was not anything to take likely, so Luke and I gingerly worked the scene, keeping our distance. At times the rain was coming down so hard we had to stop and wait for a break, otherwise it would be visible in our shots. It wasn’t until the first hardy visitors arrived that we decided we had had enough and set out for the next falls down the trail.
