I was so busy this past summer participating in art shows around Colorado that I barely got a chance to get out to take any pictures. It was driving me crazy, especially since I had picked up a new camera late in June. I finally got a chance to get out and do some shooting in September.

I spent some time around home for the first couple of weeks getting used to the camera and doing some processing. The colors were perfect in our valley and I didn’t feel the need to travel elsewhere until early October. As the leaves began to fall in my neck of the woods, I headed down to the Ridgway area in southwest Colorado to see how the colors were. The trip did not disappoint and the colors were amazing. I spent a week driving around the many county roads, stopping frequently to frame up interesting compositions of golden aspen leaves.

This image is a composite of four images. I captured it using one of my favorite techniques using a long telephoto lens to focus in on a small area. The resulting image is gigantic and the detail is amazing. I will be printing this one up soon. Look for it on display this summer in one of my art shows.
