We have had rain almost every afternoon this week, so yesterday morning I got up and headed out for sunrise hoping that a few clouds would still be hanging around. Well I was right! The only problem was that there were a few too many right at sunrise to let the sun shine through on the mountains. Oh well, that is the game we play. I headed back to the house and as I got closer to home, the sun started breaking through the clouds. It was gorgeous light with lots of puffy white clouds to the west. Now I just needed a subject.
I drive by this dilapidated old house every day and have always wanted to get a shot of it, but the light never seems right. Yesterday was different. The clouds still off to the east added dramatic shadows to sides of the Collegiate Peaks in the background. The puffy clouds added a whimsical touch and the warm light of early morning made for a very pastoral scene. I finally got the shot I wanted!
Great photo and better yet great blog. Sorry it took so long to leave comment.
Ok, I rode with you past this building on the way back to your house.. It didn’t look this good in my head! Must be something wrong with my old tired eyes! Love the colors and shadows.
Thanks Rod. Maybe it was just the day. I have driven by this house how many times without stopping?!
