The fall colors around my home town are starting to peak. We have had chilly nights and warm sunny days which help the leaves to lose the green and turn to gold. Yesterday we even had a little snow on the Collegiate Peaks.
This image is from some scouting I was doing late last week up on Aspen Ridge. The winding rock road weaves you through miles of aspen groves. When I was there this morning, there were quite a few patches that were almost completely changed. I shot this directly into the sun, placing it behind a tree. Using a very small aperture created the starburst and adds to the golden glow of the leaves and the forest floor.
