I finally visited the slot canyons outside of Page, Arizona. Fellow photographer Jim Talaric and I headed down that way last month to hike into the Wave, but with heavy cloud cover to the southwest and an incoming storm, we opted to pack up and head back to Colorado. We pretty much had accepted the fact that the trip was a bust until we left town late in the morning.  The skies were pretty clear as we came up to the entrances to Antelope Canyon and I mentioned that we could always stop and shoot there for a while. Jim had been there before and thought it sounded like a great idea. We opted for Lower Antelope since there was a tour bus parked in the lot for Upper. I would have to say that I didn’t expect to have so much fun! I had seen plenty of shots from the area and honestly wasn’t that excited about shooting there. But once I got to shooting, I just couldn’t stop. Now I can’t wait to go back!

I posted this on Google+ a while back and meant to make a blog post at the time. Good thing I didn’t because on further review I didn’t really like the white balance I had previously chosen. I went back and started from scratch today and warmed it up. The color of the rocks is pretty much a personal choice. With the camera set on auto white balance, it chooses a very cool setting by default in a situation such as this.
