Every day leading up to the full moon last week was cloudy with showers in the evening. That included the night it was full. I swear it is always cloudy when the full moon rises (or at least when I have an opportunity to capture it). So, I decided I would at least set the alarm for early the next morning and see if there was an opportunity for shooting the moon setting. Much to my surprise there was the moon shining in my window when I woke up!

I loaded up the gear and headed down the mountain to a county road that runs along the valley. I had envisioned capturing the moon setting over Mount Columbia, but things just weren’t lining up right as I drove north. I ran out of road and decided to go to plan B which was Mount Yale further south. I found a side road to pull off on that offered a pleasing composition with the moon off to one side of the peak and shot until it disappeared over the mountain range. This was one of the early shots taken just as the sky started to get a little color and before the moon got too low.
