The fall color south of Steamboat Springs was just crazy this year. I am fortunate to have my good friend and fellow photographer Rod Hanna living right there to keep me posted on the conditions and tell me when to get up there.
Not only that, but he also graciously took me around to all of his favorite shooting locations. This hillside was just outside of the small town of Oak Creek. The canyon there is carpeted in aspens and scrub oak and when we arrived the afternoon sun was causing them to glow intensely. This little canyon really caught our eye and we pulled off of the highway and made our way back. The wind was really kicking up, so I shot at a faster shutter speed to freeze the leaves. I really like how the twists and turns of the canyon walk your eyes up the mountainside.
